EXPLORE YOUR BACKYARD WITH MAINSPRING AND THE MACON COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY
On the first Thursday of the month, take a casual 1 mile stroll with a naturalist! Join Skye as we amble through a meadow, along Cartoogechaye Creek, and in a mixed oak forest, learning about and appreciating our wild neighbors along the way. We’ll notice how this space changes with the seasons, and answer any questions you have about the outdoors. Some of the topics we have discussed in the past include tree ID, edible plants, lichens, and invasive plants!
This event is free and open to the public, and registration is not required to attend. Just bring yourself, your water bottle, and your curiosity! We’ll meet in the fireplace/living room space in the library, then hit the trails. The walk will take about an hour and a half and is on a variety of trails, from the narrow and sloped trails behind the library to the wide and flat Little Tennessee River Greenway.
For questions, email Skye. Please leave pets at home. This event is weather-dependent.
