When: July 8, 2023 @ 10:00 am
Come Meander with us to explore the lands, waters, and cultural resources that Mainspring Conservation Trust protects.
On the second Saturday of every month, Conservation Outreach Associate Skye Cahoon will lead you on a Meander through the rich floodplains, lush forests, picturesque meadows, and vibrant mountains that make this region so special. Together we will learn about and appreciate the natural world around us, taking time to notice both the tiny and the mighty creatures that call these places home.
This month, we are Meandering to Yellow Creek Falls in Robbinsville. This hike is short- just over ½ mile round trip– but adventurous! The trail is moderately challenging, with a steep 180ft elevation gain and some large rocks to scramble over, roots to avoid, and stairs to climb. We will admire the plentiful mosses, lichens, mushrooms, and plants that are flourishing along the creek as we go. Participants are encouraged to bring a snack or a picnic lunch to enjoy in the cool spray of the falls, and a bathing suit if they want to take a dip in the refreshing water! This hike should take about 2 hours.
We will meet at the roadside parking area for Yellow Creek Falls off Tapoco Rd (Rt 129) in Robbinsville at 10am on Saturday, July 8th. Note that parking here is limited, so please carpool if possible. Email Skye to be connected with other carpoolers in your area.
This event is free and open to the public, and registration is not required to attend. Please email Skye with any questions, and keep an eye on this page and our social media for any scheduling updates. We look forward to Meandering with you!
