Come be “out in the outdoors”!
Calling WNC’s LGBTQIA+ community! Let’s gather to share the company of nature and our fellow community members. On the second Saturday of every other month, we will come together to create a welcoming and inclusive outdoor space as we wander in the woods, connecting to each other and the natural world around us. We’ll take the time to notice, appreciate, and learn about the creatures that call this place home, from the tiny beetles to the mighty trees. Along the way, we will find a spot to stop and enjoy a seasonal treat. Friends, family, and allies are welcome too!
This month, we will be Out on Hooper Bald to catch the spectacular display of Flame Azalea blooms! These striking orange flowers form a sea of color atop this mountain, and will be glowing in the late afternoon sun.
This 1.2 mile hike has 150 feet of elevation gain. We will meet at the parking lot to the trailhead off the Cherohala Skyway (approximately 35.304236, -84.000857) at 4:00pm on June 15th. If you are interested in carpooling, email Skye. Register below to RSVP for this event.
Email Skye with any questions. Please leave pets at home. This event is weather-dependent.
