Help us to keep this special river clean
This event has been cancelled due to lingering storm impacts on the organizers. We’ll pick it back up again next year!
The Valley River, which flows southwest out of the Snowbird Mountains to meet the Hiwassee River, is home to many special creatures including ospreys, river otters, and the threatened Sicklefin Redhorse. Join Mainspring and the Western Carolina Pacesetters for a fun half day of splashing in and cleaning up the river!
Volunteers can participate by wading or walking along the shore where accessible, and possibly floating depending on need. A shuttle would be provided for those who float. Waders can be borrowed from Mainspring if needed- please indicate below if you will need a pair. A sandwich lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
We will meet in the parking lot of Mountain Credit Union in Marble (8005 NC-141, Marble, NC 28905), just before 10am on Friday, October 25th. This cleanup is scheduled from 10:00am-1:00pm.
Please treat your registration as a formal ticket. Read this event description thoroughly and ensure that the date, time, and location work for your schedule. If you register and can no longer attend, email Skye at [email protected]. Thank you!
