Mainspring’s Native Seed Library Mission:
Connecting people to the natural heritage of the Southern Blue Ridge by providing wild, local, native seeds and information on how to grow them.
We seek to empower communities with knowledge and seeds, so they may steward the environment by nurturing native plants on any scale, from a window basket to a whole yard.

The WNC Wildseed Library (WWL) is a volunteer-driven program, with year-round opportunities to engage with us. No experience is required to volunteer, we will teach you everything you need to know! The more our communities support this program, the more it will grow, much like how the more native plants we grow, the more wildlife we will support. Fill out our volunteer form to indicate your interest in joining us.
This program also includes educational opportunities, such as Ethical Wild Seed Collection Training, Native Seed Germination Workshops, and Native Seed Processing Workshops. Learning opportunities will be shared directly with volunteers and posted to our Events Calendar.

Thank you to the amazing allies who helped us get this project off the ground: the North Carolina Botanical Garden, Maricopa Native Seed Library, Atlanta Botanical Garden, and US Forest Service: Nantahala District.
Other supportive organizations include Winding Stair Nursery, Wild Ones WNC, Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust, Friends of Panthertown, Wildcraft Kitchen, NC Extension Office, Balsam Mountain Trust, Southeastern Grasslands Institute, Highlands Biological Station, and Western Carolina University.
